Meghan Markle has offered the public its first look at her family's new life in the United Kingdom, sharing an Instagram video of the Sussexes enjoying the English countryside with their two children. The post came weeks after she and Prince Harry arrived in Britain with Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, a move that has fueled widespread speculation about whether the family intends to settle there permanently.
The video montage opens with Markle and Harry walking hand in hand outdoors, then moves through a series of intimate family moments. Lilibet is shown riding a bicycle while Archie runs alongside her, and Harry is seen fishing from a boat with the children. The footage marks the first personal glimpse of the family's daily life in England since their high-profile return across the Atlantic.
The Sussexes relocated to Montecito, California, in 2020 after stepping back as senior working members of the royal family. They are expected to keep their California home while establishing a base in Britain, an arrangement that royal commentators say could allow them to maintain ties on both sides of the ocean.
Royal commentator Kinsey Schofield told Fox News Digital that the couple may be seeking the «best of both worlds» — access to Britain, proximity to the monarchy and the credibility that comes with Harry's royal identity, alongside the freedom and commercial opportunities they associate with life outside the UK. She compared the arrangement to the «half-in, half-out» royal role that Queen Elizabeth II rejected when the Sussexes stepped back from their duties.
Schofield described the move as a trial run rather than a definitive homecoming, noting that the couple has previously said one thing and done another. She pointed to conflicting reports about whether Harry has a long-term plan in Britain or whether the stay could be temporary, and said the family's intentions remain unclear.
British broadcaster and photographer Helena Chard also told Fox News Digital that Harry and Meghan are «keeping their options open.» She said that while things have not gone to plan for various reasons, the couple needs to remain relevant, and that a visible return to the UK — including being seen with the royal family — serves that goal. Chard added that enrolling the children in a British school could benefit the family while helping Harry pursue the security arrangements he has sought since stepping back as a working royal.
The couple has reportedly vowed to avoid public comments or photographs that could overshadow Prince George's start at Eton this month. Since leaving the monarchy, Harry and Meghan have released a Netflix docuseries and Harry's memoir, «Spare,» while pursuing a range of entertainment and business ventures outside the royal fold.
