ReSalesforce agrees to buy Braze in $5.7 billion deal
Salesforce has agreed to acquire customer engagement platform Braze in a deal valuing the company at about $5.66 billion, pending regulatory and shareholder approval. The company says Braze's capabilities would strengthen its marketing and AI offerings.
Salesforce has agreed to acquire Braze, the customer engagement software company, in a deal valued at approximately $5.66 billion. The companies announced a definitive agreement on October 20, and the transaction remains subject to regulatory and shareholder approval, since both firms are publicly listed. The announcement was described as the defining martech deal of the week, drawing attention across the marketing industry.
Salesforce says Braze's real-time customer engagement and AI decisioning capabilities would complement its existing products, including Marketing Cloud, Data 360, Customer 360 and Agentforce. The company describes the combination as a way to build a more connected system, in which customer data informs marketing decisions and engagement results feed back into the wider business. Salesforce argues that this integration would reduce the complications caused by market fragmentation, a long-running problem for brands that rely on many separate tools that do not share data easily.
The deal has been interpreted as a successful exit for Braze and a strategically sound acquisition for Salesforce. Some financial institutions, however, questioned the valuation, reflecting a debate over what the business is worth at this stage. That divergence in analyst opinion is one of the main points of discussion around the transaction, alongside the strategic logic Salesforce has laid out.
For marketers, the agreement raises practical questions about how the martech ecosystem will consolidate. Braze has built its reputation on helping brands communicate with customers across channels, and its integration into a broader Salesforce portfolio would place it alongside tools for data, customer relationship management and AI-driven agents. Marketers who currently use Braze as an independent platform will be watching whether pricing, features and support change once the deal closes.
The acquisition also reflects a wider pattern in which large software providers expand to cover more of the customer lifecycle, from collecting data to executing campaigns. A combined offering would let a single provider connect the insights drawn from customer data with the messages sent to those customers, which Salesforce presents as the core benefit. Whether that promise holds will depend on how quickly the companies integrate their platforms and how regulators and shareholders respond in the months ahead.
