ReMake-A-Wish UK Turns Golf With Your Friends Into Live Charity Tournament

Make-A-Wish UK is staging a real-life, crowd-controlled crazy golf tournament based on Golf With Your Friends, with donations triggering gameplay-changing wishes during a live stream on September 20.

Make-A-Wish UK is bringing the chaotic multiplayer mini golf game Golf With Your Friends into the real world for a live charity tournament that puts the audience in control. The event, produced with the game's publisher Team17, will stream on Sunday, September 20 at 4pm BST, which is 11am Eastern and 8am Pacific, on the fundraising platform Tiltify.

The format turns the video game into an in-real-life crazy golf competition featuring content creators TwoAngryGamers, CyborgAngel, Nikoheart and WorstPremadeEver. Viewers can donate before and during the stream to unlock what organizers call Goodwill Wishes or Mischievous Wishes, which influence gameplay in real time. Donations can grant advantages, sabotage contestants or alter the rules of the competition. As more money comes in and milestones are met, gameplay-changing wishes are triggered, allowing the audience to shape the outcome and create memorable moments.

The tournament is co-hosted by comedian, presenter, actor and video game voice artist Inel Tomlinson alongside returning host AlicesPixels, an actress and cosplayer. The creators will compete for the Make-A-Wish Cup, though organizers warn it will not be a straightforward round of holes in one.

The event follows the charity's award-winning Overcooked! Live stream in 2025, which organizers describe as hugely successful. That earlier broadcast established the model of adapting a popular cooperative video game into a live, donation-driven spectacle, and Golf With Your Friends Live aims to repeat that formula with a mini golf twist.

Make-A-Wish UK says the money raised supports children living with critical illness, for whom hospital stays, treatment and uncertainty can make their world feel smaller. The charity works to restore what illness can take away: the chance to choose, the courage to dream beyond a diagnosis, and precious time with family. According to the organization, around 134,000 children in the UK are living with a critical illness that could make them eligible for a wish, a number it compares to filling more than 11,000 simultaneous games of Golf With Your Friends. Every hour, another child is diagnosed, the charity says.

Make-A-Wish UK was established in the UK in 1986 and receives no government funding. It is a registered charity in England and Wales and in Scotland. The live event is being made possible with support from individuals and companies including Rob Small, CEO of Miniclip, Mountain Pictures as film crew, Arena Media UK as media agency, Supernaut Studio as creative agency, and Shed Wilson from Boost Comms as stage manager. Sponsors include Xsolla, Guillotine, Breddos and Patty & Bun.

A team of gaming industry professionals is volunteering to run the production. The volunteer team includes Jinesha Ghandi as lead producer, Veronika Glova as producer, Sally Kevan as games industry event specialist, Lauren Shotten as event manager, Emily Britt handling public relations and events, Sam Possible as games marketing consultant, and Paul Bondy as game audio composer.

Donations can be made immediately through the Tiltify page, and early contributions will influence the first round of the tournament. The stream itself begins on September 20 at the times listed above. Organizers say watching and donating during the broadcast is the main way to take part, with every donation helping to grant wishes for children facing critical illness.
