ReDirector Michael Mann Wounded in Accidental Holster Discharge at Range
Crime director Michael Mann sustained a superficial leg wound when a holstered gun accidentally fired at a shooting range in Los Angeles. His representative said he received treatment and is being discharged.
Director Michael Mann was hospitalized with minor injuries after a holstered gun accidentally fired at a shooting range in Los Angeles, wounding him in the leg. A representative for the director said the wound is superficial, he received treatment, and he is being discharged.
According to the director's representative, the incident occurred on Saturday at a shooting range. "On Saturday, at a shooting range, a gun that was in a holster accidentally discharged, resulting in director Michael Mann sustaining a superficial wound," the statement said. "He received treatment and is being discharged." TMZ reported that the information was confirmed by local authorities and the director's representative. According to TMZ, sources say the 83-year-old director did not intend to harm himself, and the incident happened during some kind of training exercise. No further details have been disclosed.
According to the Los Angeles Police Department, around 4:00 p.m. local time on Saturday, officers received a call about gunshots in a block on Missouri Avenue. The investigation showed the shot was accidental. The injured person was taken to a local hospital in stable condition, and a report of the injury was filed. Reports indicate that Mann was attempting to put the gun into its holster when it fired. The Associated Press notes that he has long been a target shooter and has many years of experience handling firearms. Police representatives did not respond to requests for comment.
