Two Words for Every NFL Team After Week 1

ReTwo Words for Every NFL Team After Week 1

A two-word review of every NFL team's Week 1 performance, from the Cardinals' coaching to the Packers' meltdown.

The NFL's opening weekend produced blowouts, overtime thrillers and enough storylines to fill a season. In the spirit of the OutKick Two-Word Game, here is a two-word verdict on every team's Week 1 performance.

The Arizona Cardinals opened with a 26-14 win over the Los Angeles Chargers and were simply «well coached.» The New England Patriots fell 13-10 to the Seattle Seahawks and were labeled «schedule merchants.» The Jacksonville Jaguars dominated the Cleveland Browns 34-10 and earned the tag «championship sleepers?» The Minnesota Vikings beat the Green Bay Packers 39-22, a result summed up as «purple reign.»

The Pittsburgh Steelers beat the Atlanta Falcons 20-13 behind «aging Rodgers.» The Los Angeles Rams lost 27-7 to the San Francisco 49ers and looked «jet lagged.» The Buffalo Bills outlasted the Houston Texans 36-31 thanks to a player who is «he's HIM.» The Tennessee Titans lost 23-10 to the New York Jets and the Miami Dolphins lost 27-13 to the Las Vegas Raiders, both tagged «(also) arch support.»

The Chicago Bears demolished the Carolina Panthers 59-37 in «Madden mode.» The Dallas Cowboys lost 28-20 to the New York Giants with «defense (still) missing.» The Seattle Seahawks edged the Patriots 13-10 and were «locked in.» The Cleveland Browns' 34-10 loss to the Jaguars was «it's ugly.» The Philadelphia Eagles survived the Washington Commanders 24-22, «good enough.» The Detroit Lions beat the New Orleans Saints 31-30 in overtime despite «secondary woes.»

The Kansas City Chiefs beat the Denver Broncos 31-10, raising the question «run-first Chiefs?» The Atlanta Falcons lost 20-13 to the Steelers with «wounded wings.» The San Francisco 49ers beat the Rams 27-7 via «Shanahan's wizardry.» The New York Jets beat the Titans 23-10: «they won...» The Houston Texans lost 36-31 to the Bills but are «they're fine.» The Las Vegas Raiders beat the Dolphins 27-13: «like that!»

The Baltimore Ravens beat the Indianapolis Colts 41-23, «newly Mint-erd.» The Cincinnati Bengals beat the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 33-27 with «jungle fever.» The Carolina Panthers lost 59-37 to the Bears, «defense optional.» The Denver Broncos lost 31-10 to the Chiefs: «Nix happens.» The Indianapolis Colts lost 41-23 to the Ravens, «outclassed early.» The Los Angeles Chargers lost 26-14 to the Cardinals, «very disappointing.»

The New Orleans Saints lost 31-30 in overtime to the Lions, «so close.» The Tampa Bay Buccaneers lost 33-27 to the Bengals, «close, again.» The New York Giants beat the Cowboys 28-20: «Dart Vader.» The Green Bay Packers lost 39-22 to the Vikings: «Metldown VI.»

Week 1 delivered statement wins, narrow escapes and ugly losses. The two-word game captures the early narrative for all 32 teams as the season begins to take shape.
