ReJoy Behar Says She Would Welcome Trump Back to «The View»

The daytime talk show co-host told New York Magazine she would like the president to face questions on the program, while also questioning his health and saying his sense of humor has changed since she knew him as a New York celebrity.

Joy Behar, the longtime co-host of ABC's daytime talk show «The View,» said she would welcome President Donald Trump back on the program, even as she questioned his health and described him as «not long for this world.» The remarks came in an interview with New York Magazine and were reported Friday.

Behar, who has said she wants her legacy to include helping remove Trump from office, framed the invitation as a chance for the president to face direct questioning. «I'd love Donald Trump to take the heat,» she said. She added that she believes he appears unwell: «You know Trump is not long for this world. He seems ill. He does not seem like he's well.»

The comments drew a sharp response from the White House. A spokesperson told Fox News Digital that Behar is «an extremely unlikeable, talentless hack with a poorly rated TV show» and accused her of suffering from «Trump Derangement Syndrome.» The spokesperson added, «I lose braincells every single time I have the displeasure of hearing her speak.» The exchange marks the latest collision between the daytime talk show and the president's press operation.

Behar's remarks are the most recent instance in which she has publicly raised questions about Trump's health. Last month, she argued that the media does not scrutinize Trump's health to the same degree it scrutinized former President Joe Biden's. The White House has previously said Trump was declared «fully fit» for all presidential duties after an annual physical showed «excellent health.»

Despite the current political divide, Behar and Trump share a history that predates his political career. Trump made more than a dozen appearances on «The View» before he became president, and Behar attended his 1993 wedding to Marla Maples at The Plaza Hotel in New York. She said his humor has changed significantly since she knew him as a New York celebrity decades ago. «I knew him when he was just an annoying New York figure,» she said. «Back then, he had a sense of humor that was not as bizarre as it is now. Now his sense of humor is making fun of handicapped people.»

Behar also recalled earlier interactions with Trump, including a time when she compared him to Woody Allen after he said he would date his daughter Ivanka if they were not related. «He actually thought that was funny,» she said. She has said Trump is «much more dangerous» now than he was during his first term and recently urged Americans to call on their members of Congress to invoke the 25th Amendment against him because she believes he is «destroying the United States of America.»

The back-and-forth illustrates how «The View,» a daytime program built on hosts' opinions, remains a regular venue for political commentary and a frequent target of the White House's media criticism. Behar's invitation, paired with her health remarks, is likely to keep the show in the political conversation as the president's public appearances continue to draw scrutiny.
